- SCSI is more versatile than IDE. You can add more devices, and they can be
- external. IDE can only control 2 devices, SCSI does 7, and can do
- 49 if you want to pay... IDE cables shouldn't be longer than 2 feet (0.6m)
- from what I've heard, and it's not designed for external devices. No
- IDE products that I know of are external. So you would need to cut a
- slot somewhere in your case to run the cable out. The SCSI module
- you mentionned should have a nice connector to mount in the empty
- bracket in back. The only advantage IDE has, in my mind, is price.
- I have a controller for my 500 that does SCSI-2 and IDE, the IDE cable has
- never been used, and I have no intention of ever plugging it in. I
- would never use IDE myself, if I had the option to go for SCSI. If
- cost is a big influence in your purchase, get what you can afford, but
- I personally think SCSI is the better technology to use.
